Record-breaking Tourism

The tourism industry of Croatia managed to shape on the momentum attained during the record breaking 2011 by earning 6.66 million arrivals as well as 35.87 million overnights during the 1st seven months of this year.

The Croatian Ministry of Tourism has unveiled the tourism stats and they reveal that the country earned a 3.8% gain in arrivals as well as 5.4% gain in overnights during 2012’s January – July period compared to same time period previous year. Tourists from soreign countries made 5.8 million arrivals (which is 5% increase) and 31.9 million overnights (which is 6.6% increase).

This year, the total gain for the 1st five months has crossed the results of previous year and that is also with a 4.2% gain. Mr. Ostojic, the Tourism Minister of Croatia, stated in a press conference in the Croatia capital Zagreb on 7th August, 2012 that this year’s estimated earnings is 3% to 5% and if the results stay on track till this point of time, that would be a reachable target.

More than those outstanding results were reached from the Canada and the United States market for January – July period 2012, said New York’s Croatian National Tourist Office. Both arrivals as well as overnights results for seven months from Canada and United States hit a double figure gain - a 125282 arrivals (14% more) and 354669 overnights (14.3% more).
Croatian National Tourist Office New York’s director Andreja Cvitkovic told that they were anticipating good results after reports from Canadian and American tour operators and travel agents selling Croatia as a travel destination.
